Arsenal fan stakes £204,000 on Gunners
success

One man who will be keeping more than the usual supporter's eye
on Wednesday night's clash between Arsenal and Villareal is a William
Hill customer who, after opening an account on Tuesday, has staked
three bets worth £204,000 on the Gunners.
The first bet of £100,000 is on Arsene Wenger's side to reach
the Champions League final (odds 4/9). The second of £50,000
is on the Gunners winning this evening (odds 4/7).
The final wager is a £54,000 double that both Arsenal and
Middlesbrough will reach their respective European finals ('Boro
are also 4/9 to progress past Steaua Bucharest).
"In all, this man, who only opened an account with us today
(Tuesday), has staked £204,000 in anticipation of receiving
back over a third of a million pounds - £335,681 to be precise,"
said William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe.
"I cannot recall ever seeing a comparable wager in a Champions
League game or, in fact, any football event other than the World
Cup."
